MeetDistrict identity

MeetDistrict is a total concept for the business village at the Ghelamco Arena in Ghent. It’s a space where the atmosphere fits the needs of entrepreneurs and their visitors, with inspiring workplaces and meeting spots. In addition, there are sports facilities, retail stores, diners, coffee shops, day care, and more. In total, MeetDistrict is a 10,000 square metre professional space where work and leisure come together.

We developed a complete strategy for our client Ghelamco, contributing the brand identity, interior design, and a vision of the future work place.

The brand name sits between a place for professional meetings (meet) and innovative enterprises (district). The project evolved into a village with a Meet Street, Meet Spaces, Work Spaces, and in the centre you’ll find the Market Place, a meeting place for vivid dialogues.

A supporting app was developed to facilitate the reservation of meeting places and other communication tools — a great foundation for general community feeling of the more than 500 professionals who currently stay, work and live in MeetDistrict. The analogy with a village is complete when you see the ample facilities for day-to-day shopping, sports, and recreation.

We developed this Meet&Retreat idea after an international market survey of diverse concepts and styles of future work places. Inhabitants and visitors can mingle stress-free in fully equipped meeting rooms and withdraw afterwards to focus at their individual Work Spaces. The start-up phase was a base for the development of the visual identity (logo, stationery, website, signage).

  1. Some random impressions: (1) The logo is quite pointy, almost like a cactus, and I sense some disconnect with the typography here. (2) The interior design is very clean and graphical and fits the branding. (3) The copy tries too hard being original and comes across as cliched rather than inspired (as it could have been the intention). In any case, I’m sure client and agency are happy because this is most likely an above-average project.

  2. I agree with the above comments, the monogram feels too aggressive with those spikes and not stylistically consistent with wordmark.

Also there is a typo on one of the apps, it’s ‘success’ not ‘succes’.
